MITSG Acquires Manchester-based Everything Tech

Leading Manchester-based managed services provider, Everything Tech, has been acquired by Managed IT Services Group (MITSG). The acquisition will see Everything Tech become the flagship brand in the Group, with Manchester becoming its national headquarters and will bring the Group’s total headcount to 100.

Founded by Mark Allen and Phil Smith, MITSG is a UK-based managed services provider established to offer SMEs a full range of managed services around four distinct specialist units – Cloud & Remote Desktop services, Networks & Security, Voice & Contact Centre, and IT Support.

Chief Financial Officer, Mark Allen, commented: “Our vision has always been to provide SMEs with access to real experts across every aspect of the managed IT provision, with customers and staff central to our business.

“The acquisition of Everything Tech provides another part of the jigsaw that will enable us to bring our vision to reality. The brand that Ruth, Lee and Anthony have created is sector-leading and a genuine fit for our portfolio. After experiencing incredible year-on-year growth, we feel truly privileged to have the opportunity to take Everything Tech forward into a new and exciting chapter.”

This is the latest acquisition for MITSG, taking the total to four since May 2021.

Managing Director of Everything Tech, Ruth Hall, said: “Over recent years, we have been approached several times to sell the business however, those buyers were never aligned with our core ethos and culture, where our customers and our people come first. MITSG very much share our beliefs and values and believe in the brand we’ve worked hard to build over the past 12 years.

“We see this acquisition as the start of a very exciting period of growth for Everything Tech, as well as an opportunity for our existing customers to benefit from a comprehensive offering.”

MITSG is headed by former GCI CFO Mark Allen, and COO Phil Smith. The Group is backed Boost & Co for acquisition funding and was underpinned by director’s loans, and is on an aggressive expansion strategy.

Clough & Willis predicting further sharp upturn in demand for its Contentious Probate services

Bury and Bolton law firm Clough & Willis is predicting that as the pandemic continues to wane demand for its Contentious Probate services will further increase to new record levels. The news comes after the firm last reported a rise of about 25% in new enquiries in September 2020 as the UK battled with the effects and ongoing uncertainties of COVID-19.

Back then, the main reasons for the soaring demand were down to Wills being rushed, badly drafted by inexperienced solicitors or non-legally binding documents which the deceased believed constituted as an official Will. Other grounds for litigation included undue influence, lack of knowledge and approval, and a belief that Wills were fraudulent or forged.

These are still major issues. However, other reasons are now also coming more into play including; family set ups being more diverse; higher life expectancies which can lead to concerns amongst potential benefactors that testators may have been suffering from an illness meaning that they did not have the required mental capacity to make their Will; rising estate values due to the soaring property prices we have seen over the past couple of years; as well as people dying suddenly or unexpectedly who did not have an up to date Will due to not being able to access the right legal advice during the height of pandemic.

A contentious probate or disputed Will is a dispute involving inheritance or the validity of a Will. They usually stem from someone feeling a Will didn’t leave them what they felt they deserved or were promised, or they may have concerns regarding the way in which a Will was made.

Grahame Henry – senior associate and dispute resolution solicitor – said: “The ongoing need for our services in this area remains high. The immediate and shocking effects of COVID are now thankfully dissipating but it is leaving a trail of problems in its wake that are having a real impact on peoples’ lives. One of which are disputed Wills. They can tear families apart and cause real distress, but our message remains the same in that we would implore that clients do their due diligence to ensure a Will is legally valid and outlines their true wishes.”

Northcoders appoints Steven Oakes as its new director of marketing

Northcoders – one of the UK’s leading independent providers of training programmes for software coding – has grown its senior team with the appointment of Steven Oakes who joins as its new director of marketing.

Steven will lead, plan and execute Northcoders’ marketing strategies for its existing product range as well as for all new launches. He will also be working closely with the board on identifying new business opportunities, reviewing changes to the market, and advising on core consumer trends.

Steven joins Northcoders from Shoot The Moon Group where he was group digital director. During his six-year tenure there, he held various positions and was instrumental in its acquisition of JGM in 2019 and its merger with Delineo two years later.

Following the merger with Delineo, Steven sat on the group board and leadership team of the newly formed STM_GRP. He was responsible for digital work across the group of 90-plus people and five agencies which had a combined turnover of £6.5m.

His role included building relationships and operating at a senior and strategic level with key stakeholders, helping to resolve issues smoothly and effectively whilst staying focused on the group’s big picture goals. He also maintained agency budgets and developed, implemented and managed HR policies and procedures which were integral to the success of the business throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his career, Steven has worked at Red C Marketing, Bauer Media, Hidden Creative and Universal Music. In 1999, he founded his own digital marketing agency called Design Esti which created websites for the likes of Elbow, Stereophonics and Underworld. He also worked with Sony Music, Universal and EMI on a broad range of digital marketing campaigns.

Amul Batra – chief operating officer at Northcoders – said: “We are delighted that Steven has joined us as he brings with him over 20 years’ experience of developing robust insight driven, customer centric marketing strategies for global brands. This knowledge and expertise – along with strong digital and performance marketing skills – will add huge value to Northcoders as we continue to grow, innovate and diversify.”

Commenting on his appointment, Steven added: “Coming from an agency background, I knew first-hand the issues around trying to recruit good quality software developers along with the lack of diversity and inclusion in the industry. Northcoders’ mission is to address that head on, so this opportunity was too good to pass up. It’s not an understatement to say that we are living in a time where technology is defining what it means to be human, and I passionately believe that our future should be built by people from all walks of life. My new role will allow me to help lower those barriers and make careers in tech as inclusive as possible.”

Dual appointment at Manchester law firm drives growth

Top 100 law firm has appointed two commercial lawyers to senior positions at its Manchester office to bolster commercial growth across the North West.

Susan Honeyands and Rolla Rostam, who have over 40 years of combined experience in commercial law practice, join Ward Hadaway as a partner and director respectively, in a move that amplifies the Chapel Walks-based firm’s expansion.

As part of the commercial team, they will have a specific focus on leisure, retail and FMCG clients where day to day legal services range from negotiating commercial agreements for new attractions, concerts, special events, sponsorships and promotions to the full range of supply, logistics and procurement contracts and data protection policies.

Damien Charlton, a partner and head of commercial at Ward Hadaway, said: “The North West is a buoyant hub for commercial activity in the UK, especially across the leisure and retail sectors, where the region performs particularly strongly. The diverse range of expertise our team brings to the table has enabled strong growth across the area, as we’ve taken on new clients and broadened our range of services. Susan and Rolla bolster our ability to work with businesses across the region, within the leisure, retail and consumer-facing industries. Their collective commercial experience is to be admired and is a welcome asset to the team. It’s great to have them on board.”

Ward Hadaway’s Manchester office boasts a growing team of over 50, and the appointments follow a range of recent promotions across the firm. The office in Chapel Walks is also undergoing a £500,000 refurbishment with the firm’s hybrid working model now fully operational following the end of pandemic restrictions. With offices in Leeds and Newcastle, Ward Hadaway employs over 450 people, of which 97 are partners.

Commenting on her appointment, Susan Honeyands, said: “I wasn’t actively seeking a new opportunity but there was something different about Ward Hadaway that, in all my years as a lawyer, I’d not seen before. After talking to members of the senior management team, it was clear the firm truly cares about its people. Private practice is fast paced, but Ward Hadaway takes such a refreshing approach to work/life balance, a real investment in well-being initiatives and enabling the team to work flexibly whilst meeting the demands of their role.

“I’ve worked with Rolla for many years and it’s great to start this new venture with her. We’re looking forward to meeting more businesses across the region, getting to know how they operate and how we can help from a legal and compliance perspective.”

Susan and Rolla previously worked together at Knights PLC and TLT solicitors in senior roles. At Knights, Susan was head of the commercial and corporate department and, during her tenure at TLT, she was part of the leisure, retail and consumer goods teams.

Director Rolla Rostam added: “Ward Hadaway has a great reputation both in the North West and nationally for the legal services it delivers. The firm is on an exciting growth trajectory, attracting leading law professionals with specific specialisms. It is developing a highly agile team where lawyers can advise on specific and complex issues within a full-service offering. Add to this the upcoming refurbishment of our Manchester headquarters and proactivity in attaining new clients across diverse sectors, the future is positive.”

Another Freehold multi-let office investment in Altrincham changes hands

0

Warrant House, a prime multi let office building located just 50m from the buzzing market hub in the centre of Altrincham has been sold by Grangethorpe Properties Ltd to private clients of Christopher Dee LLP for an undisclosed sum.

The 10,000 sq ft three storey office building is fully let to Fletcher Legal Services, Code Resource, Yip Yap, Candour Solutions, Entire FS, Made-to-Order, and Orion Group and currently generates an annual income of £187,000 per annum.

Daniel Lee, managing director, Regional Property Solutions, who acted for the vendor, said:

“We have been the letting agents for this distinctive building for over a decade and it has consistently attracted and retained quality tenants. Our client, Grangethorpe Properties, wished to dispose of this investment through a low profile off the radar campaign, so, we made discreet inquiries to identify potential buyers meeting the necessary criteria for this level of investment and in the market to buy.

“Christopher Dee’s client was the ideal purchaser and we look forward to assisting them going forward.”

Chris Jones, partner at Christopher Dee, said: “The Altrincham office market has significant potential and is now a genuine alternative to Manchester City Centre. There is a distinct shortage of quality office space in the town as more local and regional businesses recognise the many benefits of working closer to home and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the North West’s coolest town centre”.

Flexible Business Centres Go Electric!

BusinessLodge, the contemporary flexi-business space provider offering innovative office solutions to business communities in Bury is delighted to announce the roll-out of fast Electric Vehicle charging for their tenants.

With buildings featuring high-spec serviced facilities as well as providing virtual offices, meeting rooms and conference suites, BusinessLodge are determined to lead the way, with continuous innovation a major part of their ethos. With a unique, community-focused approach, BusinessLodge clients benefit from a professional, friendly working environment including an on-site gym, catering facilities and chill-out zones, along with ample secure car parking. Electric Vehicle Fast Charging has now been installed to satisfy demand as the switch to EV’s gathers pace across the UK and more tenants are changing their petrol & diesel vehicles.

20220518 164004 169x300 1“We wanted a comprehensive solution that would give us the option of multiple driver groups and charging rates” says Kate Holt, Managing Director at BusinessLodge. “The ability to tailor our EV charging pricing to allow clients to benefit from reduced rates is important to us, and also using time-based pricing to encourage off-peak charging, in-line with Government guidance” she added.

“We chose Charge-m8 after an extensive search as we were impressed with their proposal which included features we hadn’t considered and proved highly cost effective” said Lisa Kay, Centre Manager for BusinessLodge Bury. “From helping us with the OZEV grant application and holding on-site introduction and training meetings to explain the new system to our clients, Charge-m8 have made our introduction to EV Charging easy”.

BusinessLodge Clients can use the new 22KW 3-Phase Charge-Points by downloading the free Charge-m8 APP or by scanning a QR code on the charger display. “It’s really convenient for drivers with different options available to start a charging session” said Iain Hughes, Chief Technical Officer at Charge-m8 who designed and oversaw the installation of the scheme. “BusinessLodge also wanted to try to ensure a fair use policy was implemented to prevent drivers hogging a charging bay all day, so we built-in a charge for parking in the new EV Bays which only starts after a period has elapsed, giving drivers plenty of time to recharge and move their vehicle to a non-EV bay. It’s one of a number of features on our system that we can introduce for our clients” he continued.

With the UK Government widening the eligibility of EV Grant schemes to include landlords (residential & commercial) and small hospitality operators like B&B’s, the demand for professional EV Charger installation continues to increase. “As a vertically integrated charge-point manufacturer, installer and charge-point operator (CPO), with our own in-house fully qualified engineers, we can 100% guarantee the quality of each and every installation as we do it ourselves” says Julian Smith, Chief Executive Officer at Charge-m8. “We offer a growing range of EV Charging options for the Home and Workplace and as an OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) approved Installer for both Domestic & Workplace charge-point installations, we’re really focused on delivering affordable solutions for clients looking to make the first step into EV Charging or expand their current charging provision.”

The BusinessLodge charging schemes feature five Charge-m8 Delta Three-Phase 22KW Charge-Points at each site with dedicated electrical infrastructure to support maximum capacity charging, along with bespoke EV charging-bay signage and floor markings.
