Living with ALS: Managing Symptoms and Improving Quality of Life

0

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a medical condition that affects the nervous system. The cells in the nervous system that control motor function begin to degenerate, which affects muscle control.

Because ALS gets progressively worse, the disability gets more severe and patients lose a lot of independence, with the disease being terminal in most cases. ALS life expectancy is usually between two to five years.

Taking the right steps in managing ALS won’t only improve the quality of life but can also slow down disease progression.

It is important to make attempts to keep the quality of life high for patients. Fortunately, there are different ways that patients and caregivers can manage symptoms and live better.

Coping strategies for ALS patients and caregivers

When receiving an ALS diagnosis, it can be very hard to figure out how to move on with life, especially with the relatively short life expectancy of the condition.

However, there are different coping strategies that you and a caregiver can turn to that help make things easier for you and make the best use of your time. Listed below are some of these:

  • Visit and converse frequently with your loved ones; whether friends or family.
  • Prioritize your most important goals in life and write them down somewhere. Focus on them and put as much effort as you can into making them happen.
  • Ask questions whenever you have any. Living with ALS can be scary but you can break down the unknown by asking your healthcare workers and caregiver questions.
  • Take the initiative to make changes to your home that will make navigation easier for you.
  • See a mental health professional if you feel like you need it.
Assistive devices and technology for ALS patients

What causes ALS is the degeneration of motor neurons, and as muscle function gets worse in the later stages of the disease, assistive technology can be very important in making up for the deficits.

Communication devices

When speech is affected in the course of ALS, the effects can be quite significant as the individual will not be able to communicate verbally which compounds their declining independence.

Fortunately, there are many communication devices that can be utilized. These include:

  1. Speech-generating devices, or SGDs. These devices include text-to-speech applications and voice banking systems.
  2. Eye-gaze devices. These track eye movements (which can remain intact late into ALS) and use them to control a computer to select words.
  3. Writing tablets. These are primarily utilized while fine motor function in the hands is still mostly intact.
  4. Brain-computer interfaces. These electronic devices use brainwaves to control a computer for communication or to control a device.
Wheelchairs

A power wheelchair can make it possible for an individual with ALS to maintain good mobility, even as the upper and lower limbs get progressively weaker.

Respiratory aids

The muscles involved in breathing are not exempt from the progression of ALS. In fact, respiratory failure is the major cause behind the low ALS life expectancy.

When respiration starts to weaken, assistance through breathing pacemakers, portable ventilators, and suction machines can be really helpful.

The importance of nutrition in ALS treatment

When diagnosed, close to 50% of patients with ALS have some degree of malnutrition. Because of weakening muscles in the face and neck, it is harder for them to chew and swallow food.

Malnutrition is prevalent in people with ALS, so it is important to pay extra attention to eating well.

Proper nutrition is a big part of ALS disease treatment. It is important to make sure that a patient still gets adequate calories and protein. A gastronomy feeding tube may be an option for patients who can no longer eat food on their own.

Physical therapy and exercise for ALS patients

Physical therapy and exercise cannot halt the progression of ALS, but it has been shown that they can slow down disease progression.

Working with a physiotherapist will also keep muscles working at their best, which can help stretch out the period of independence that a patient can enjoy before the condition approaches its later stages.

ALS is a disease that progressively worsens. A person’s muscles continue to weaken until they are no longer able to do several tasks on their own. In virtually all cases, the condition is terminal.

As a result, with an ALS diagnosis, it is important to emphasize supportive measures and improve quality of life. This can be achieved with coping strategies, assistive devices, proper nutrition, physical therapy, and so on.

If a loved one is living with ALS, isn’t it worth making sure that they are comfortable and happy as can be? This is what treatment at a proper center can facilitate.

Making Your Mark: How to Leave a Lasting Impression at Business Meetings

0

In the realm of business, first impressions are vital. But the impressions you leave behind once the meeting concludes can be just as impactful, if not more so. This article explores strategies on how you can leave a lasting impression at business meetings, ensuring that you’re not just another face in the crowd.

The Power of Preparation

Preparation is the key to confidence, and confidence leaves a mark. Before the meeting, ensure you’re well-versed with the agenda, know who you’ll be meeting, and understand their role and relevance to your business objectives. Doing your homework shows respect for the other party’s time and positions you as a serious and committed professional.

Engage with Eloquence

During the meeting, it’s not just about what you say, but how you say it. Be clear, concise, and articulate in your communication. Make your points effectively, but remember to listen attentively when others speak. Your active listening skills can set you apart as someone who values others’ input and fosters collaborative relationships.

Leveraging Body Language

Your non-verbal cues can speak volumes. Maintain good eye contact to show engagement and sincerity. A firm handshake can convey confidence, and a warm smile can make you appear approachable. However, be conscious of cultural differences in body language if you’re dealing with international clients.

Displaying Problem-Solving Abilities

Business meetings often revolve around tackling challenges or seizing new opportunities. Demonstrating your problem-solving abilities can leave a lasting impression. Show that you’re not just about identifying problems, but that you’re also capable of providing feasible solutions. This positions you as a proactive and valuable collaborator.

Leaving Behind a Memory: The Photo Book Strategy

One unique and highly effective strategy for leaving a lasting impression is using photo books as leave-behinds. A photo book, curated to mirror your business’s journey, achievements, or even a snapshot of your products and services, can be a memorable token that sets you apart.

It’s not just about flaunting your achievements; it’s about telling a story that resonates with your audience. You could create a narrative around your company’s origins, growth, and future plans, capturing the essence of your brand in a visually compelling format. Unlike a traditional brochure or business card, a photo book is likely to be retained and referred to, keeping you and your business at the forefront of their minds.

Cultivating Professional Relationships Post-Meeting

Your job isn’t over when the meeting ends. Follow-up is crucial to cement the impression you’ve made. A personalized thank you note or an email summarizing the key points discussed in the meeting can keep the conversation alive. It also shows your commitment and attentiveness to detail.

Authenticity: The Heart of Lasting Impressions

In a world where business interactions often follow a template, authenticity can make you stand out. Authenticity can be displayed through showing genuine interest in the people you’re meeting and the topics you’re discussing. Share personal anecdotes where appropriate and relate to the experiences of others. Authenticity fosters trust and creates connections that go beyond just business, leaving an impression that is hard to forget.

The Edge of Personalisation

Personalizing your approach can also significantly influence the impression you leave. This could range from referencing a previous conversation, showing awareness of their business challenges, or even remembering personal details like birthdays or hobbies. Personalization shows that you view them as more than just a business contact. It creates a sense of rapport and camaraderie, strengthening relationships and ensuring that you are remembered fondly and professionally.

Leaving a lasting impression is more than just a tactical maneuver in business; it’s about establishing meaningful connections that lead to productive and enjoyable business relationships. Each meeting is a chance to not just represent your business but also to express your personal brand and values. With preparation, authenticity, personalized engagement, and a creative touch like a memorable photo book, you can leave an imprint that persists long after the meeting concludes.

Consistency is Key

Finally, remember that consistency is key. Every interaction is an opportunity to reinforce the impression you want to leave. Ensure that your behavior, communication, and professionalism consistently mirror the image you want to project.

Leaving a lasting impression at business meetings involves a mix of preparation, effective communication, strategic use of non-verbal cues, problem-solving abilities, and creative strategies like the use of photo books. By being attentive to these aspects, you can ensure that you make your mark in every business interaction, leading to fruitful relationships and successful collaborations.

The Imperative of Understanding Depreciation: A Must-know for Business Owners

0

In the realm of accounting, some topics might seem more complex and daunting than others. One such topic is depreciation, a concept that, though intricate, is integral to accurately capturing a business’s financial health.

Unpacking Depreciation

Depreciation represents the reduction in the value of a fixed asset over time due to usage, wear and tear, technological obsolescence, or market factors. This concept acknowledges that assets like buildings, machinery, or vehicles contribute to a company’s income over their useful life rather than just at the time of purchase. Therefore, the cost of these assets should be spread across the duration of their useful life.

From an accounting perspective, depreciation is a non-cash expense deducted from revenue when calculating net income on the income statement. Concurrently, it reduces the carrying value of the asset on the balance sheet.

Role in Financial Reporting: Reflecting True Profitability

Understanding and accurately accounting for depreciation is crucial for a business to portray a true picture of its profitability. By expensing a portion of the asset’s cost each year, a business can match the expense incurred from the asset (depreciation) to the revenue it helps generate, adhering to the matching principle of accounting. This practice presents a more accurate depiction of a company’s profits and prevents overstatement of income in the initial years of asset purchase.

Impact on Cash Flow Management: A Non-cash Component

Despite being an expense, depreciation is a non-cash charge. This means it reduces net income but doesn’t involve an actual cash outflow. As such, it gets added back to the net income in the operating activities section of the cash flow statement. This understanding can help businesses in effective cash flow management. By acknowledging that depreciation is a non-cash expense, businesses can better assess their cash-generating ability and make informed decisions about investing, financing, and operational activities.

Implication on Tax Liability: A Shield against Profits

Depreciation expense plays a critical role in reducing a company’s tax liability. As it is deducted from revenues to determine taxable profit, higher depreciation charges lead to lower taxable income and thus lower taxes. Different tax regimes allow various depreciation methods, and some offer accelerated depreciation schemes, enabling businesses to depreciate assets faster, thus reducing taxable income more significantly in the initial years.

Effect on Company’s Market Perception: A Signal of Growth and Stability

Beyond the realms of financial reporting and decision making, the understanding and prudent accounting of depreciation can influence a company’s market perception. Consistent investment in capital assets and corresponding depreciation expense could signal the company’s commitment to growth and innovation. On the other hand, an entity with a high proportion of fully depreciated assets yet still in use may signal underinvestment, potentially raising concerns about its future competitiveness.

Necessity of Understanding Depreciation in Mergers and Acquisitions

In the context of mergers and acquisitions, depreciation plays a significant role. The buyer needs to understand the depreciation method used by the target company as it affects the company’s reported earnings and hence, valuation. Post-acquisition, the acquiring company may need to adjust the depreciation method to align with its own accounting policies, impacting future profits. An understanding of depreciation is also crucial in the due diligence process, helping assess the quality of the target company’s earnings and the state of its fixed assets.

In essence, the role of depreciation in accounting and business decision-making is pervasive. Its understanding is crucial across multiple aspects of business, from everyday operational decisions to strategic considerations. Whether it’s managing tax liabilities, planning capital investments, assessing cash flows, or preparing for corporate restructuring, a sound understanding of depreciation provides a robust foundation for informed decision-making, ensuring the financial stability and longevity of a business.

Influencing Business Decisions: Investment and Financing

Depreciation charges can significantly influence a company’s investment and financing

decisions. When planning for capital expenditures, businesses must consider not only the initial cost but also the depreciation methods and rates as they impact future profits and cash flows. Understanding depreciation also assists businesses in deciding whether to lease or buy an asset. Higher depreciation costs might make leasing more attractive and vice versa.

The Relevance in Asset Valuation: Book Value and Salvage Value

Depreciation directly impacts the carrying amount, or ‘book value’, of an asset on the balance sheet. Over time, the accumulated depreciation (total depreciation expense since the asset’s purchase) is subtracted from the asset’s initial cost to calculate its book value. This value is crucial in determining gain or loss on the disposal of the asset.

Furthermore, the understanding of depreciation helps in estimating the ‘salvage value’ of an asset, which is the estimated residual worth at the end of its useful life. This value is important when determining depreciation expense and in decisions regarding asset replacement or disposal.

Understanding and accurately accounting for depreciation is fundamental for businesses. It impacts financial reporting, cash flow management, tax planning, investment and financing decisions, and asset valuation. Therefore, businesses must devote time and resources to grasp this vital concept and its applications. By doing so, they set themselves up for more informed decision-making, compliant financial reporting, effective tax management, and ultimately, greater financial success.

Demystifying Misconceptions on CBD Products

0

Since Congress assented to the Agricultural Improvement Act (Farm Bill) in 2018, there has been a steady growth in the number of states that have legalized the cultivation, use, sale, and distribution of cannabis. This move contributed to the explosive popularity of the marijuana market, whose value is projected to grow to $15 million by the end of 2030. The law expressly allows the cultivation and sale of hemp, a cannabis cultivar that contains less than 0.3% of THC in dry weight.

As of 2020, approximately 30% of American adults were reported to be using (or have used) CBD products for various purposes. Thus, as the popularity of cannabis grows, obtaining more factual information about these products is essential to avoid being on the wrong side of the law or experiencing adverse effects of CBD products.

What Is CBD?

The cannabis plant comprises over 500 chemical compounds. Approximately 130 of those compounds are cannabinoids, which are chemical compounds producing a range of physical and mental effects on the users. CBD and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9 THC) are the two most common cannabinoids, with the latter having a high potential for misuse because of their psychoactive effects. CBD and delta-9 THC bind to receptors in the brain and body but produce different effects.

THC disrupts many mental and physical functions and produces psychoactive effects, while CBD does not produce that intoxication. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is the second most common active compound in cannabis. While CBD is a critical component of medicinal marijuana, it is either extracted directly from the hemp plant, a close relative of marijuana, or produced in a laboratory (in a synthetic form). According to a World Health Organization assessment, CBD demonstrates no effects suggestive of abuse or dependence potential in humans. However, there is still no consistent clinical evidence of CBD’s ability to cure medical issues exists so far.

CBD Product Types

CBD is derived from the hemp variety of cannabis plants because they contain lower THC concentrations than the marijuana type. After that, the CBD extract is used in different forms to create a variety of products ranging from edibles like CBD-infused teas, candies, gummies, cookies or chocolates, orally administered CBD-infused tinctures and supplements, topically applied products, and CBD options for recreational use, such as vapes and pre-rolls. Any of these products can be manufactured in controlled environments for mass manufacturing or locally produced, like weed cookies and other edible products for personal use. It is important to note that the only FDA-approved CBD product is Epidiolex, a pharmaceutical-grade CBD oral liquid recommended for treating severe seizure disorders.

CBD Extract Typology

Before picking the product you want to consume for pain, stress, or nausea, select the CBD type optimal for your use. CBD can be one of three recognized categories:

Full-Spectrum CBD

This mixture contains CBD and other naturally occurring components in hemp plants, such as cannabinoids (including trace amounts of THC), terpenes, and flavonoids. Terpenes are responsible for the cannabis plant’s characteristic odor. The components of this variation work together to produce more potent medicinal effects on the users.

Broad-Spectrum CBD

This CBD extract is similar to the full-spectrum extract in terms of composition, with the only difference – it is further processed to remove all THC. Thus, it is a THC-free product that contains all other naturally present hemp components.

CBD Isolate

This is the purest form of CBD, as it contains no THC or anything else. In other words, it’s 100% CBD in composition, with no extra components that may interfere with the user’s medications or cause allergies. Thus, it’s the safest variant for drivers, medical workers, athletes, and other people who need to pass drug tests.

Availability of CBD Products

Apart from the prescription-based Epidiolex, whose availability varies by state depending on the legalization status, most CBD products are available over the counter throughout the United States from online distributors to brick-and-mortar retailers such as drug stores, convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery stores.

Remember that most CBD products sold online and over the counter, even from reputable distributors, are not FDA-approved, meaning CBD products may contain more than the recommended 0.3% THC levels. Thus, it is vital to check the label and the certificate of analysis (CoA) to ensure the content is safe. Most items have been tested by third-party labs for CBD and THC amounts, terpene profile, mycotoxin levels, microbial, foreign matter, pesticides, heavy metals, and residual solvents.

Marketing of CBD Products

Most CBD products are marketed as recreational, skin care, medical alternatives, or dietary supplements for humans and their pets. As mentioned above, these products are neither fully regulated nor FDA-approved; therefore, their efficacy and safety are not guaranteed. Additionally, there needs to be solid evidence of the therapeutic properties of CBD, though anecdotal reports and clinical trials already prove its health advantages. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine continues to evaluate the safety and efficacy of CBD for different medical conditions and as a dietary supplement. Either way, the popularity of CBD products is steadily rising, with the market reporting approximately $10 million in sales last year and expected growth soon.

The Legality of CBD Products

Although its legal status is still debated, CBD is widely available in most of the United States, with different degrees of regulation. In December 2015, the FDA relaxed regulatory criteria to allow scientists to conduct CBD research. The Farm Bill of 2018 amended the Controlled Substances Act, which used to consider cannabis illegal.

As the present review showed, CBD is a beneficial, non-toxic choice for medicinal and recreational use and dietary supplements, though more research is still needed to evaluate all risks and benefits more systematically. Thus, it’s hard to estimate proper CBD amounts without enough high-quality information from human research, and the absence of labeling regulation makes it hard to establish the real concentration and contents of CBD-infused consumer products. If you decide to include CBD in your health and wellness regimen, purchase it from a reliable supplier. Also, see your doctor to ensure it will not interfere with other medications.

The Psychology Behind Luxury Restaurant Interiors

0

In an era where dining out is as much about the experience as it is about the food, restaurant interior design takes the centre stage. Luxurious restaurant interiors are more than just a feast for the eyes; they evoke emotions and create lasting impressions. This article explores the interplay between psychology and the elements of high-end restaurant interior design.

The Concept of Luxury

When we talk about ‘luxury’ in interior design, what exactly do we mean? Historically, luxury has been associated with opulence, grandeur, and extravagance. Over the years, however, the concept of luxury has evolved. Today, it encompasses not only material wealth but also aspects such as exclusivity, craftsmanship, innovation, and emotional connection.

In the hospitality industry, luxury is often about creating a bespoke experience that leaves a lasting impression on the patron.

The Psychological Effects of Luxury

As we immerse ourselves in the opulent ambience of a luxurious restaurant, it’s easy to overlook the subtle psychological interplay at work. However, the impact of a space on the human psyche is profound, especially in a setting where indulgence meets experience.

In high-end restaurants, the interior design is not solely about aesthetics; it’s an ensemble of elements that communicates with the diner’s subconscious mind. From the perception of value to the sense of belonging and emotional resonance, there are intricate psychological threads woven into the fabric of luxury.

Perception of Value

Luxurious interiors often lead patrons to perceive a higher value in the establishment. When customers step into a space that exudes elegance, they are likely to associate it with high-quality food and impeccable service.

Social Status and Identity

For many, dining in a luxurious setting is a statement of social status. It’s not just about the meal; it’s about being seen in an environment that reflects one’s identity and aspirations.

Emotional Connections

An expertly designed space can evoke a range of emotions. The choice of colours, textures, and layout can create an atmosphere of calm, excitement, or nostalgia. These emotional connections can be powerful drivers that bring customers back time and again.

Key Elements of Luxurious Restaurant Interiors

It’s essential to understand that luxury is not simply about opulence. It is a delicate fusion of aesthetics, comfort, innovation, and attention to detail that offers a unique and memorable experience to the diners.

The key elements of luxurious restaurant interiors create an environment where every detail, from the materials used to the placement of art pieces, works harmoniously to exude elegance and sophistication. These elements are more than just decorative; they serve to elevate the ambience, reflect the brand’s identity, and connect emotionally with the patrons.

Use of High-Quality Materials

Premium materials are used to signify quality and durability. The use of these materials in finishes and furnishings is instrumental in conveying luxury.

Attention to Detail

In high-end design, details matter. From intricately designed lighting to bespoke tableware, every element should be thoughtfully chosen and harmoniously integrated into the space.

Lighting and Ambiance

Lighting can make or break an interior. Soft, ambient lighting can create a warm and intimate setting, while dramatic lighting can add a sense of theatrics to the space.

Art and Decor

Art pieces and decor add depth and character to a restaurant. Whether it’s through paintings, sculptures, or decorative elements, art creates conversation and engages the senses.

Spaciousness and Layout

The layout of a restaurant should be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. A sense of spaciousness, even in a small area, adds an air of luxury. The flow from the entrance to the seating area should be seamless, guiding the patrons through the space.

The Role of Interior Designers in Crafting Luxury

Skilled interior designers play a pivotal role in achieving a luxurious setting. Their expertise goes beyond selecting the right furnishings or colour palette; they holistically consider the space, brand ethos, and the desired emotional impact on the patrons.

Take, for instance, Carroll Design, a Manchester-based interior design company specialising in high-end restaurant interiors. Through their expert understanding of materials, layout, and the psychology of space, they craft interiors that not only look stunning but resonate on a deeper level with the patrons. By applying psychological principles, they curate spaces that evoke emotions and create lasting connections.

However, it’s important to acknowledge that the creation of luxurious spaces is often a multidisciplinary effort. It’s not just the work of interior designers, but also involves the contributions of architects, craftsmen, and artists. Sometimes, even the input and feedback from patrons can be invaluable. When these diverse skills and perspectives come together with a coherent objective, the outcome is a well-designed space that effectively combines form and function, offering a pleasant and memorable experience for those who visit.

USA vs Canada Concacaf Nations League final Soccer Online TV channel

The USMNT weren’t able to defeat Canada during World Cup qualifying but were still able to beat their neighbors to the north en route to winning the Gold Cup in 2021.

With another trophy on the line, Callaghan’s left with decisions to make but he does have considerable depth in his 23-man roster to try and limit a formidable attack that includes Jonathan David, Cyle Larin, Alphonso Davies, and Tajon Buchanan.

However, after surprisingly topping the North American World Cup qualifying standings and claiming a win and draw over the Americans in their last two head-to-head matches, Canada will feel they have what it takes to topple the USA off its perch.

While Canada were able to get past Panama, it wasn’t an easy victory by any sense of the term. Canada’s midfield allowed too much space in midfield for Panama to play through. Allowing the United States to create similar chances won’t end well for Canada, but after getting minutes under his belt.

On the other side of the equation, Canada are undoubtedly as talented as they’ve ever been and hungry to earn themselves a huge accomplishment. With the ever-dangerous Jonathan David leading the line and the dynamic Alphonso Davies ready to make an impact either from the start are off the bench, this is shaping up to be a final to remember.

But the Americans are the defending Nations League champions and they’re the higher-ranked side (No. 13 to no. 47) and clear betting favorites in this game. Still, Canada will give them a run for their money.

We can’t ignore that the United States will be down a few key players (Weston McKennie and Sergino Dest) due to the red card frenzy in Thursday’s match against Mexico. However, USMNT looked great outside of that. They attacked with confidence, which resulted in a 3-0 win with Christian Pulisic accounting for a pair of the goals.

This will be the 40th meeting between the two teams, so they will want to start this match with a bang and come out on top, in addition to a victory and the trophy, leaving 11 wins for Canada, 12 draws and 17 for the United States.

Canada’s striker, Jonathan David, 23 years old, has had a good performance, the striker has played his thirty-seventh game in his local league, 36 as a starter and 1 as a substitute, managing to score 24 goals in the French league and 4 assists, being crucial for the team, looking to help and victory, hoping to respond for the good moment he is currently going through.

The rise of Les Rouges is in no small part down to the emergence of generational talents like Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David, alongside a group of players finding their way in European football. Davies and David were the difference in the semifinal win over Panama.

The Canadians have undoubtedly raised their game under manager John Herdman and are now in position to win their first trophy since hoisting the 2000 Gold Cup. They already finished atop the World Cup qualifying standings in the region, which few saw coming.

Christian Pulisic scored twice, before four red cards were dished out — two to each side — and the game finished with just 18 players on the field on Thursday. Those red cards will, of course, have consequences, as the USMNT will be without starters (and standout performers on the night) Weston McKennie and Sergino Dest.

Spain vs Croatia Soccer Final Online TV Channel 2023

Croatia have not won a major international trophy and this is their opportunity to win the 2022-23 Nations League when they clash with Spain in Sunday’s final in Rotterdam.

Joselu scored a late winner for Spain as they knocked Italy out in the semifinals, while Croatia defeated the Netherlands in extra time in the final four. Spain have now reached back-to-back Nation League finals.

WATCH LIVE NOW

This is first meeting between the two sides since the round of 16 in the 2020 European Championships, which was played in 2021. Spain won 5-3 after extra time in what was a dramatic fixture.

Zlatko Dalic has put together a talented team that has developed a certain penchant for winning knockout games of football in extra time, a feat they pulled off again when downing Netherlands in an entertaining semi-final during the week. Spain, meanwhile, edged Italy via a late Joselu goal.

Croatia finished third in the World Cup last year and runner-up in 2018, and winning the Nations League would cap 37-year-old Luka Modric’s international career in what would be the Real Madrid midfielder’s 166th game for his country.

Spain, meanwhile, edged past Italy on Thursday thanks to a late winner from late-blooming striker Joselu, and will be hoping to make amends for their defeat to France in the final of the 2021 edition of this tournament, which is UEFA’s secondary competition.

#NourishEveryDog: Pet Care Brand Donates 2.5 millions meals to dogs in need

Butcher’s Nourishing Food for Dogs has announced a huge milestone in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, having now donated over 2.5 million meals to dogs in need via its #NourishEveryDog initiative.

Every time the #NourishEveryDog hashtag is used on social media, a meal is donated by Butcher’s, supporting dog homes, shelters, rescue charities and pet food banks nationwide with meal donations.

Since starting the #NourishEveryDog campaign four years ago, over 2.5 million meals have been donated to over 400 charities.

The news comes at a challenging time for pet owners as cost of living pressures mean that 40% of pet owners are anxious about the costs of their pet, with 60% of people seeing an increase in pet bills.**

Heartbreakingly, every week over 1,000 people have to make the difficult decision to give up their dog**, with the number of dogs in animal rescue centres and rehoming facilities on the rise amidst the cost-of-living crisis, highlighting just how important Butcher’s target is.

Natasha Bryant, Senior Brand Manager at Butcher’s Nourishing Food for Dogs, said: “It’s a really tough time for people at the moment, as the cost of living crisis impacts everything around our day-to-day lives and, sadly, our pets are also feeling this impact. It’s heartbreaking to see the increasing rate of people having to give up their dog, but it does give our #NourishEveryDog initiative all the more purpose.”

“We’re incredibly proud to have donated over 2.5 million meals to over 400 different charities nationwide, and have set ourselves an even more ambitious goal of 3 million by the end of 2023. We’re calling for everyone to use #NourishEveryDog on social media – it really is that simple, and a meal is donated every single time it is used!”

Alongside the #NourishEveryDog initiative, Butcher’s employees have been volunteering at different dog charities across the country as part of His Majesty The King’s Big Help Out programme.

Volunteers from the business visited the Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in Sheffield and Blue Cross in Bromsgrove, where they helped the charities in the day-to-day running of the centres, from cleaning animal pens and walking dogs to processing donations and painting agility equipment. Please see more information on the charities that Butcher’s supports, including the #NourishEveryDog initiative, here.
