Bury creative agency celebrates trio of new clients

Bury-based creative agency, Think is celebrating after a trio of companies enlisted its expertise.

The Old Firestation Café and Bar (pictured), owned by the University of Salford, approached Think to create a cohesive brand and develop a website that conveyed the unique essence of the establishment, blending the rich heritage of the building with its new vibrant offering within its Salford Crescent home.

Slattery, the UK’s Finest Pâtissier & Chocolatier since 1967 (based up the road from Think’s studio in Whitefield), approached Think to create a new website. The company’s existing offering was no longer fit for purpose nor reflected its current extensive offering available to customers.

Similarly, the Standard Patent Glazing Company (the oldest heritage glazing system company in the UK), based in Dewsbury, approached the digital team at Think as it wanted to update its website offering and increase its online leads.

Paul Grogan, founder and creative director at Think said: “We’re incredibly proud of the depth of expertise our team has and the range of services we are able to offer.

“To have such a volume of work coming through for our website team is a real testament to the high standard of work that they deliver.

“To have well-known brands such as Slattery come to us with such a brilliant brief is amazing but we also love the newer companies that are getting in touch, allowing us to really demonstrate our creative abilities for campaigns such as The Old Firestation Café and Bar. It just shows that no two days are the same and the teams are always challenged to show their true talents.”

Digital Skills Festival announced for 2024

Manchester Digital has announced that its 2024 annual Digital Skills Festival will take place from February 5-9.

The week-long event brings together leading tech businesses, educators, tech professionals and future tech talent for a programme of events and discussions to strengthen Manchester’s digital and tech skills ecosystem.

New for 2024 is Digital Her Day on February 8, shining a spotlight on women working in digital and technology roles. The event will feature talks, workshops, networking events and activities aimed at empowering women to progress their tech careers and addressing gender imbalance in the industry.

Clear asks for the next government

Katie Gallagher, managing director of Manchester Digital, said: “With an upcoming general election on the horizon for next year, it is vitally important that the region’s tech industry has very clear asks of the next government and leads the conversation around our region’s place in the rapidly-developing tech industry.

“On top of this, emerging tech such as AI, is already changing the way we work and will affect the skillsets we look for in the tech industry, so this will be a key topic of discussion.

“Our Digital Skills Festival, which has run for more than a decade, celebrates our fast-moving, thriving and innovative tech ecosystem, with a Conference Day, Talent Day and much more.”

Tech days

This year, Talent Day, which is the largest tech careers fair in the North, will take place at the prestigious Bridgewater Hall. Around 2000 students, graduates and career changers will meet 50 of the region’s top tech employers to find out about current job opportunities.

Conference Day will see keynotes speeches around the future of the tech industry, plus emerging technology such as generative AI, which is already shaping the future of tech careers.

Alison Ross MBE, chair of Manchester Digital and chief people and operations director at AutoTrader, (pictured) said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Digital Skills Festival again this year as headline sponsor.

“As chair of the Manchester Digital board, we continue to support the tech industry and everything it has to offer through this established and well-respected festival.

Stanislav Kondrashov Explores the Fascinating Evolution of Photography

In his latest publication titled “The evolution of photography by Stanislav Kondrashov,” delves into the captivating history of photography, tracing its origins to the modern-day digital age. Kondrashov skillfully illustrates how photography has evolved into both a significant art form and a powerful means of documenting the events that shape our world.

Kondrashov’s comprehensive exploration of photography’s history encompasses its earliest beginnings to the contemporary era. He adeptly highlights the profound societal and cultural impacts brought about by the continual development of photographic technology. According to the author, photography represents a harmonious fusion of artistic expression and groundbreaking technological advancements.

The publication places a special emphasis on the pivotal role played by Louis Daguerre, who introduced the daguerreotype in 1839. This invention, named after its creator, revolutionised the world by capturing fleeting moments and immortalising them for eternity. Kondrashov contends that Daguerre’s innovation wasn’t just the birth of photography but a true cultural and technological milestone.

Stanislav Kondrashov then guides readers through the evolutionary phases that propelled photography to its contemporary forms. He explains how in the 20th century, cameras became accessible to a broader spectrum of society, granting individuals the ability to capture significant moments in their lives and preserve them in physical form.

The publication delves into the crucial advancements that shaped photography’s trajectory, from the introduction of color film in the 1930s, breathing new life into black and white photography, to the birth of the Polaroid in 1947, enabling instant viewing of captured images without the need for traditional film development.

With the advent of digital technology and computers, photography entered a new era. Pixels gradually supplanted film, memory cards replaced traditional photo albums, and the latest generation of mobile phones and smartphones gained the ability to take stunning photographs. This shift allowed individuals to share their photographic creations within dedicated virtual spaces like Instagram.

Stanislav Kondrashov contends that recent technological developments have enriched photography with unprecedented immediacy and connectivity. The contemporary world of photography, according to Kondrashov, is marked by an ever-increasing integration with digital tools, resulting in a vibrant and dynamic medium that continues to shape our visual culture.

For a more in-depth exploration of this fascinating journey through the evolution of photography, we recommend reading the full publication and watch the video.

Haaland: I am getting tired of my own name

0

Erling Haaland admitted he’s “getting a little tired of my own name” after another few days of being the centre of attention.

The Norway striker scored twice last night as Stale Solbakken’s side kept their slim hopes of Euro 2024 qualification alive with a 4-0 win in Cyprus.

Norway face Spain in Oslo on Sunday knowing another victory is required to maintain their push for a top-two finish in Group A.

Haaland’s second-half brace moved him to second on the all-time list of Norway goalscorers. He has 27, scored in just 27 appearances, six shy of leader Jorgen Juve with 33.

The 23-year-old is the key player for club side Manchester City and his country and he admits the focus that comes with it can be draining.

Speaking after the game in Larnaca, he told TV2: “It’s a bit stressful at times and I’m starting to get a bit tired of my own name.

“I appreciate the support, and this is what I wanted so I’m not complaining about it.”

He added: “It was an important victory, and now we have to start thinking about Spain. We all put up a good fight. Now we just have to get home to Oslo and settle in well.

“We know Spain are a good team. We must do our best and all of Norway must support us.”

Haaland’s goals against Cyprus were his first in four matches for club and country, leading to criticism in some quarters that he was not looking as sharp as last season when his 52 goals in 53 games in all competitions helped City to a European and domestic treble.

His Norway team-mate Jorgen Strand Larsen, who replaced Haaland with 13 minutes to go, angrily dismissed the critics.

He told Dagbladet: “It’s just nonsense. Erling scored about 10,000 goals last season and is clearly the best striker in the world.

“It’s not a goal drought when you’re talking about three games. When you get up to 10, 12 games, that’s a goal drought.”

Celebrating the Republic’s 100th Year with the debut of Izmir’s Digital Currency

Turkiyes inaugural city-focused cryptocurrency is set to launch. Anticipated to become the digital heartbeat of Izmirs social life, this ground-breaking token will debut in a pre-sale on 29 October, coinciding with the centennial celebrations of the Republic.

London — As the number of fan tokens, designed to symbolise fansallegiance to their teams and currently listed on CoinMarketCap, nears 90, preparations for Turkiyes inaugural city-centred token, inspired by this trend, have concluded. Conceived by Barış Turgut, an entrepreneur and communications specialist from Izmir, and developed by Batufi Soft, the Izmir Token will premiere in a pre-sale on the Bzetmex cryptocurrency exchange on 29 October Republic Day, marking the centenary of the Republic of Türkiye.

Commenting on the initiative, the Founder Barış Turgut remarked, The Izmir Token, which has been in development for some time, aims to encapsulate the vibrant social life of a city onto the blockchain. Were thrilled and honoured to launch this pioneering project, centred on one of our nation’s most beautiful cities, Izmir, during the pre-sale on 29 October Republic Day, as we commemorate the 100th year of our Republic.”

Introducing the must-haveDigital Currency to engage in Izmirs vibrant social life

The Izmir Token, crafted for residents of Izmir, tourists visiting the city, and those deeply connected to Izmir, aims to offer opportunities for users to engage with unique Izmir-centric events and promotions soon. Written on the Ethereum ERC-20 network and claiming the title as the worlds inaugural city token, the Izmir Token will be available for pre-sale at a set price on the local cryptocurrency exchange, Bzetmex, from 29 October. Following the pre-sale, the value of the Izmir Token will be dictated by market dynamics, responding to supply and demand. Furthermore, token holders can look forward to earning staking income.

Barış Turgut, highlighting their intention to introduce an innovative blockchain concept to Izmir, shared, The Izmir Token is conceptualised as a utility token. In the medium term, as regulatory guidelines for digital assets within our nation become more established, were also considering the feasibility of using Izmir Token as a mode of payment in public venues. The token has attracted interest from international investors familiar with the project and will be made available on the Bzetmex cryptocurrency exchange for all affiliated with Izmir starting 29 October. Those who acquire the Izmir Token can securely store it in their digital or cold wallets, and will soon discover the exclusive benefits, which we will explore at upcoming events in and around Izmir.”

5-year vision to showcase Izmir to the world

Barış Turgut emphasised that the creation of the Izmir Token wasnt merely as an investment mechanism, but also to enable Izmir to tap into the potential of blockchain technology and bolster its prominence in the software sector. What truly excites us about the Izmir Token is our ambitious 5-year vision. During this half-decade, we envisage a range of training programmes and events, particularly designed for Izmirs youth, to acquaint them with the realm of blockchain and enhance their digital and technological proficiency.

The economic momentum generated by Izmir Token will fuel investments in both businesses and sports clubs within Izmir. Were poised to promote Izmir, which annually plays host to over 11 significant fairs, globally through the Izmir Token. This will be a call to action for global investors to recognise and invest in the Izmir Token. Beyond just these fairs, our global marketing initiatives will spotlight the Izmir Token — the worlds pioneering city token — and the city from which it originated, presenting it to an international audience. Down the line, were also keen to explore promising areas like NFTs and the metaverse.”

Destined to become one of Turkiye’s most extensive crypto communities

Drawing attention to the fact that Izmir is Turkiyes third-largest city, with a populace nearing 4.5 million, entrepreneur Barış Turgut concluded, We’re actively engaging with prominent communities and NGOs within Izmir that have yet to embrace the crypto and blockchain landscape. As these entities warm up to the Izmir Token, we anticipate our collective to transform into one of Turkiye’s most expansive crypto communities. This will also usher in a fresh wave of users to cryptocurrency markets in the country. It fills us with immense pride to embark on this journey, especially as it coincides with 29 October Republic Day, marking the centennial celebration of our Republic.”

On Saturday, October 14th, Wales and Argentina will go head-to-head for a spot in the Rugby World Cup Semi-Final when they meet at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.

Wales come into this game off the back of a 43-19 demolition of Georgia in the Group Stage. Wales are yet to lose a game at this year’s World Cup, so will, therefore, be looking for yet another win against a strong opponent.

Argentina come into this one having won all but one of their games at the World Cup this year. They lost only in the first game against England when they lost 27-10. Since then, they have won all three games against the likes of Samoa, Chile, and Japan. Will they be able to overcome the might of the Welsh, or will Wales be too much to handle?

On Sunday, the 15th of October, the Stade Velodrome in Marseille will host the upcoming Rugby World Cup quarter-final match between England and Fiji.

England has yet to lose at this year’s World Cup, grabbing wins over Argentina, Japan, Chile, and Samoa. England, of course, went to the final of the last World Cup, where they eventually went on to lose to South Africa in the final. England will surely be looking to make it to the semi-final stage with a victory over Fiji on Sunday.

Fiji come into this game having won two and lost two at the World Cup this year. Their two wins came against Australia in a famous victory, and Georgia. They have, however, lost two games so far at the World Cup. These defeats came against Wales and Portugal, where they lost by just one point. Fiji will be looking for a positive performance against one of the strongest teams in the competition.
