Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Integrated Care Partnership have announced the appointment of Dr Salman Shahid to the position of Associate Medical Director. Dr Shahid, who currently serves as the Clinical Lead and Senior Business Partner at Rochdale Road Medical Centre in Middleton, will play a crucial role in leading the development and transformation of health and care services across the Rochdale borough. His responsibilities will include providing leadership to clinical leads, contributing to the development of the clinical and care professional model in Rochdale, and ensuring effective collaboration with Greater Manchester Integrated Care and the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR) locality.
As part of his role, Dr Shahid will be involved in various committees and teams, including the HMR Locality Board, HMR Primary Care Commissioning Committee, Locality Leadership Team, and the NHS Greater Manchester Wider Leadership Team. By actively engaging in these forums, he aims to ensure that the clinical voice is represented in decision-making processes and that clinical and care professional leaders receive the necessary support to deliver high-quality care to the population of Rochdale. Dr Shahid will also work towards promoting collaborative working across commissioners and providers, fostering integration between health and social care services at both place and neighborhood levels.

Dr Shahid brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having worked in hospital medicine and primary care. He has served as a GP Partner in Middleton since 2013 and has been actively involved in various leadership roles, including Clinical Director of Middleton Primary Care network (PCN). Dr Shahid’s commitment to integrated care pathways is evident through his leadership of a team of Social Prescribing Link Workers, who work towards enabling better coordination between health and social care services. His passion for innovative approaches to healthcare delivery, particularly in addressing long-term physical and mental health conditions, further underscores his dedication to improving patient outcomes.
