Allow Adult Education to give you a bright start in 2023

By learning new skills through the Manchester Adult Education Service you can start the New Year the right way. It’s never been easier to gain new skills, develop talents you already have or pick up something entirely new with a range of courses that are tailored exactly to you.

There are FREE courses available for English, maths and computer courses and many vocational courses such as childcare, community interpreting, higher level computer courses, adult health and social care are low cost or no cost.

Louise, 41, embarked on her journey with MAES after she was made redundant during the pandemic. After completing qualifications in maths and English she has gone on to study for a Level 2 qualification in Adult Social Health.

She said: “I don’t think people realise there’s that much help out there. There’s a lot of people who want to change careers and I don’t think they realise all the opportunities available. I’ve got all this help and I have been enjoying it.”

After enrolling in a course students will have support through the process via a tutor in order for them to get the most out of adult education.

Chantelle found this support especially useful after she began her training not long after having a child.

She said: “My tutor knew I had the potential to go further. She said when we were doing assignments ‘I know you can do more’. Through that I ended up coming out with A*s. That’s why I’ve come on to do my Level 3 qualification now.”

Between January 9 – 14 new students are able to enrol with MAES. You are able to book your enrolment slot online, or call into your nearest learning centre to do it in person.

Councillor John Hacking, Executive Member for Skills, Employment and Leisure said: “We know just how important education can be when it comes to opportunities in life. Through the adult education service we hope to empower thousands of Mancunians to change their lives and pursue ambitions no matter what their background.

“This isn’t just about getting a new qualification though. There are so many more benefits to this service, whether they be gaining confidence, becoming more digitally savvy, or getting that knowledge to help the kids with their homework.

“With enrolment opening in the New Year it’s a fantastic time for anyone to make that positive change, learning something new and start 2023 off on the best note possible.”
