Slater Heelis celebrates 250th anniversary with new HQ in Orbit Developments’ Crossgate House, Sale

Slater Heelis will be relocating its headquarters to Orbit Developments’ Crossgate House in Sale, consolidating the law firm’s two town centre offices into one location. The ten-year agreement between Orbit Developments and Slater Heelis is for the entire 11,688 square foot first floor of Crossgate House. After many years serving the local community, Slater Heelis is due to move into the property in spring 2023, marking its 250th anniversary.

Following a search for a new HQ, Crossgate House met the requirements: a single floor, grade A building; as well as fulfilling Slater Heelis’ desire to stay in the town centre. Crossgate House offers occupiers a fully air-conditioned, modern office space with an excellent car parking ratio and transportation links. The properties prominent location on the A56 and being only a four-minute walk from the Metro, means it’s easily accessible.

Sale is amidst a renaissance as it sees new occupiers expanding their portfolios, such as Simon Rimmer’s Greens restaurant and the popular, Manchester born Rudy’s pizza, adding to Sales local amenities. Furthermore the recent arrivals of the Foodhall and Sugo’s also provide very positive additions to the towns amenity offer.

Slater Heelis itself is involved in the redevelopment, with Managing Partner Chris Bishop sitting on the board of the Sale Regeneration Project, ‘Uniquely Sale’, which aims to attract independent businesses, provide more green spaces and create cycling and walking routes in the town.

This is further endorsed by fellow Crossgate House occupier Training Qualifications, expanding from Dunham House just last year. This followed a sustained period of growth for TQ of which Orbit as Landlord of both buildings were able to work with them to find the right building for their expansion.

Dean Richards, Leasing Director at Orbit Developments, comments: “We are delighted to have been able to provide Slater Heelis, which is such an established and respected business, with a property that fell in line with its workplace aspirations and will become its sole premises in Sale. It’s been a pleasure dealing with the staff at Slater Heelis and Edwards & Co who advised them.”

Chris Bishop, Managing Partner of Slater Heelis, says “Sale has been home to our head office for over 100 years and during that time we’ve established strong roots within the community, so it was important for us to find new office space within the town. Crossgate House is the perfect fit. It supports our environmental commitments, providing a more energy efficient space with plenty of bike storage and easy access to nearby public transport links.

“Slater Heelis is continuing to grow, and we know how important an attractive office environment is in recruiting and retaining staff. Our new HQ will enable us to make the most of our new hybrid way of working, facilitating greater collaboration when we’re all on-site and creating space for training and socialising. We’re looking forward to being in!” Slater Heelis was advised by Nigel Hunter, Senior Director at Edwards & Co, while Orbit Developments were represented by James Dickinson at Canning O’Neil.
