The regional division of fastening giant YKK Europe, appointed Manchester-based video production company Standby Productions and creative digital agency Persona Studio as content creators for its virtual stand at landmark sports trade show, ISPO Munich.
This year, YKK Europe’s ‘stand’ took on an innovative digital format to exclusively showcase its latest collection via a purpose built microsite. Buyers, media and sales professionals from across the globe were treated to a fully interactive experience, where they could view the entire collection close up and in 360-degrees. The site also enabled them to place sample requests and virtually meet with the sales team to discuss the range.
Simon Owen, managing director at Standby Productions, said: “YKK tasked us with showcasing its new ‘Four Worlds’ range with an immersive experience that merged digital and video into an online exhibition stand. The four worlds; Natulon®, Aqua, Eco-Technical and Evolutionary, came to life in the content we created to highlight the various fastening innovations and the 20 plus products within them.
“We enjoyed working with YKK on creating a full digital customer experience that pushed the boundaries and offered so much more than a video reel on a stand. ISPO Munich is a really impressive show to be part of and we’re hopeful we can continue to work on large scale digital and video stands in the future.”
Shot at Big Shed Studio in Trafford Park, a trailer for YKK’s exhibition stand was edited working from home by Standby Productions, which has been shared globally by the various branches of YKK; YKK Europe, YKK USA , YKK Poland, YKK Chile, and YKK Metal ve Plastik.
Lynn Whittingham, marketing executive at YKK, said: “We have worked with Simon in previous projects and it’s great to be able to continue our partnership as we know we’re in good hands. Both Standby Productions and Persona Studio exceeded our expectations in this project, which for YKK is such an important show. From the first brief, both their flair and personalities came over in the work that was done in such short and tight deadlines, we are immensely proud of the final project handed over to us with both companies still on hand if we need them.”
Tom Davies, co-founder of Persona Studio, said: “It was really great collaborating with Simon and the Standby Productions team to create something new and exciting for the client.
“By fusing together interactive video content into a microsite that allowed users to explore the products in new ways, it ended up being a true stand-out piece that made a huge impact at ISPO.
“With an increasing move towards virtual events and online experiences, it’s exciting to be producing content that lends itself perfectly to this new style of show. The YKK team allowed us freedom to run with our ideas, and was a pleasure to work with.”
Standby Productions’ and Persona Studio’s skills have perfectly aligned on this project and both agencies hope to collaborate again soon.
ISPO Munich, which took place from 1 to 5 February 2021, was online for the first time due to Covid-19 and is the world’s largest sports trade show held annually in Munich.
